Coffee with Margriet Ruurs in Shanghai

May 21st – What Luck!  The SLN planning meeting this last Saturday (May 17th) was able to touch base with Margriet Ruurs.  Margriet was in Shanghai working with a school and we were able to overlap.  It was a good time catching up and seeing what her plans were for the future. She will be globe trotting in many parts of the world as she continues her writing projects.  She has many many children’s books to her credit (Her Web Link).  One she spoke of that is close to home is “My Librarian is a Camel” – 2005.   From her web page.  If you have not viewed her page it is a great place to visit.

My Librarian is a Camel

“When we think of a Library, we picture a building on a street or perhaps a room in a school. But some libraries aren’t kept behind four walls. Some move from place to place in the most remarkable ways: by bus, by boat, by elephant, by donkey and more! These unusual mobile libraries are often the only way that people in remote areas such as in Thailand, Mongolia or Azerbaijan can access books.”

Thanks Margriet! and Best of luck in your trips!
