SAS Pudong Hosts Follett Destiny Library Workshop
The SAS Pudong Libraries are hosting the Follett Destiny Library Workshop on Nov 7th-8th in the Secondary Library. We are expecting nearly 40 librarians and library assistants to attend. More information and pictures will be added as the workshop unfolds.
Shanghai Librarians Network – Fall 2011
The Librarians of SAS Pudong would like to thank all the organizers of the Fall 2011 SLN Symposium for the great work they did to make this last weekend event memorable. The Western International School of Shanghai (WISS) (http://www.wiss.cn/) played host this year. The Symposium brought together nearly 65 Librarians and Librarian Assistants from Shanghai and the Asia region. The Symposium began Friday (Nov 5th) evening with a supper buffet and the Deli Darbar in Puxi and ended Sunday noon with a visit to the SAS Puxi Elementary and Secondary Libraries and the Rainbow Bridge International School Library (http://www.rbischina.org/). In between, on Saturday, WISS and the Symposium presenters provided a series of “takeaway” learning-sharing sessions. Saturday ended with a “no holds barred” game show contest that pitted library teams against each other as they worked to “locate that obscure bit of knowledge”. Representatives from Follett Publishing, Jennifer Neslon, LLC, and Childroad Inc were present as sponsors/venders. The presenters are working to upload their presentations to the SNL wiki (http://schoollibrarysymposium.wikispaces.com/) so if you are interested in the session topics be sure to check in.
Again a big thanks to the organizers and both old friends met and new friends made. TSB 11/6/11
PS More info coming with Pictures……. as soon as we get time to breath.
9th Grade Research Project
The 9th Grade English Classes are deep into their Research Project. To assist this I will be placing materials tonight to help. Please drop by the library if you need help in finding resources.
SAS Reads is Just around the Corner
The SAS Campus Divisions are working to finalize plans for this year’s SAS READS program. The READ date is being set, but will most likely occur at SAS Pudong during the month of October or November. Check Back Soon for more information.
Library Happenings in September 2011
The SAS Library has been full of activities this month. Many classes have used the library for research purposes. In September so far 6-10 grade classes have come to the library for Library Orientation Presentations. The orientation presented the resources of the library. In addition students learned how to “Log in to their Destiny”. Research Database access was demonstrated using the Moodle Portal. Finally students reviewed the processes of checking the online catalog for availability of materials and how to check out SAS’s developing Ebook collection.
IB students have used the library resources for research and presentation of their G4 presentations. In the third week of September science students, Chinese Language students, and Middle School Drama students have used the library materials and study rooms. A number of elementary classes have visited the library to view Mr. Olivas’s Terrarium. Pictures of a few of these events have been uploaded to the Library Moments Page.
More info about these and other “Happenings” will be uploaded overtime.
