ECIS Librarians Conference – Waterloo, Belgium

ECIS Library Closing Keynote

Sep 27th – The ECIS Librarians Conference in Waterloo Belgium is nearly over.  Many great presentations with messages that work to push the boundaries of  librarianship.  It has been great to to have the opportunity to listen, gain information, be challenged, and make new contacts.  I will be bringing home to SAS a new vigor to further advance our library and better meet the needs of our students.  I have been a bit resistant about making radical changes in the library over the last few years but now is the time for change. The world of libraries is continuing to change and the challenge is to not follow the wave, but to ride the crest.  It is a bit of a wild ride then one makes the decision to make some bold moves but the time is now before it is too late. tsb 9/27/14

Additions to World Library Page

Following EARCOS 2012……A lot of work has been done to identify as many of the EARCOS Schools that have “findable” public Library links and add them to this blog’s World Library Page.  This content addition is meant as a help for librarians in the region as we work to develop our sites to better serve our patrons.  We each have our talents and abilities and I hope each librarian/library listed is open to sharing.  If your library would like to be removed from the list, please contact Tim Boyer (SAS Pudong) at timothy.boyer@saschina.org .

Shanghai Librarians Network – Fall 2011

The Librarians of SAS Pudong would like to thank all the organizers of the Fall 2011 SLN Symposium for the great work they did to make this last weekend event memorable.  The Western International School of Shanghai (WISS) (http://www.wiss.cn/) played host this year.  The Symposium brought together nearly 65 Librarians and Librarian Assistants from Shanghai and the Asia region.  The Symposium began Friday (Nov 5th) evening with a supper buffet and the Deli Darbar in Puxi and ended Sunday noon with a visit to the SAS Puxi Elementary and Secondary Libraries and the Rainbow Bridge International School Library (http://www.rbischina.org/).  In between, on Saturday, WISS and the Symposium presenters provided a series of “takeaway” learning-sharing sessions.  Saturday ended with a “no holds barred” game show contest that pitted library teams against each other as they worked to “locate that obscure bit of knowledge”.  Representatives from Follett Publishing, Jennifer Neslon, LLC, and Childroad Inc were present as sponsors/venders.  The presenters are working to upload their presentations to the SNL wiki (http://schoollibrarysymposium.wikispaces.com/) so if you are interested in the session topics be sure to check in.

Again a big thanks to the organizers and both old friends met and new friends made.  TSB 11/6/11

PS  More info coming with Pictures……. as soon as we get time to breath.
