SAS Secondary Library 11/11/11/11

Nov 11, 2015 – For the last 4 years the SAS PD Secondary Library has taken a picture on November 11 at 11:11am in honor and in memory of Remembrance/Armistice Day (11/11).  Today thanks to Leah and Glenda we had the largest number of people in our Remembrance Day Picture.  The PBL workshop teachers joined us as we stood in front of our library front door and waited for the clock to turn 11:11 am.  Following the picture we had a short moment of silence.  Thanks to all who participated and a Big Thanks to all who made paper flowers (Poppies) for our library ceiling.  It is important to remember the sacrifices that others before us have made.

Not Pictured was Leah (see below on the right) who helped set up the picture.  Thanks to the best Library Assistants I could hope for.  Your help makes each day possible.  (TSB – 11/11/2015/11:11)

The rules are — if you start a page, you must finish that page before you begin a new page. We have already had a number of pages completed. Way to go!

A Grand Adventure – Genrefying our Fiction

Sep 2nd — The Grand Adventure has begun. The SAS PD Secondary Library has started at long last to place our over 15,000 fiction books in Genres. So far we have with the help of parent volunteers labeled over 100 books clearing the AAA to ALE books. The job is staggering. But by the end of this school year we hope to have it all done. Check back with us to follow our progress.

We have begun by moving down our AAA Fiction Shelves.  We take each book out and classify it into one of 15 genres (see Genre Page).  Once the book is classified and dotted it is moved to its temporary Genre home (bottom image).
